SATURDAY 10TH

Day Two

Talia's Walk 8:30 AM - 11 AM

Grant Park | 840 Cherokee Ave SE Atlanta GA 30315

In response to the loss of our sister Talia “Genie" Johnson, who passed away during child birth, The Safe Labor Initiative was established. Reflecting on Talia’s experience, it aims to equip black women to identify avoidable mishaps, provide advocacy, and contribute to the reduction of adverse outcomes during child birth.

The mission of the Safe Labor Initiative is to address the alarming rates of maternal morbidity, with a specific focus on women of color. Our initiative is committed to: Educate, Advocate, Acknowledge and support both mothers and child. We aim to leverage our influence as an organization through ongoing expansion of this initiative; which includes on-going soror education and training, free workshops designed for women of color and establishing a doula grant program for expected mothers.

While we cannot alter the past, we can walk in remembrance of Talia, her experience and prevention of similar unforeseen tragedies for other women of color.

SUNDAY 12th

Day Three

Panel Discussion 10 AM - 1 PM

Fairfield Inn & Suites | 7850 Stonecrest Square, Lithonia, GA 30038

On Sunday, August 11, 2024, Delta Psi Rho Sorority, Inc. is hosting an open panel discussion featuring leaders of various Non-Collegiate Greek Letter Organizations.

This will also be an open panel discussion to include, you, the members of Non-Collegiate Greek Letter organization.  Does your organization have an initiative that you would like to introduce?  Or would you like to share your experiences as a member in the Non-Collegiate Greek community? The goal of this panel discussion is to be transparent and honest about the experiences of being in an organization and how membership has impacted you.

The event, “NCGLO Unity” will focus on advocacy and unity efforts related to the lack of recognition in the NCGLO community. Members of the NCGLO community recognize that there are many ways to raise awareness of our organizations, including social media and community events.  Delta Psi Rho Sorority, Inc. wanted to host this event to generate dialogue around ways to create greater and more positive unity amongst all Non-Collegiate Greek Letter Organizations.

We have an abundance of knowledge regarding a wide range of our current struggles as members in this community. Together, the NCGLO community is a very powerful community, but many of us do not realize how much power we have to change the world if we work together.

The panel begins at 10 a.m. at Fairfield Inn & Suites. Tickets are free and available to organization leaders, members, and non-members. Light refreshments will be served so please be sure to RSVP.
